Election results update (1) 2:00 am Kenya Time

These results are from Nation TV and only 2% of the vote has been counted so far.

National: Raila 55%, Kibaki 42%, Kalonzo 3%
Eastern: Kibaki 58%, Musyoka 36%, Raila 6%
Central: Kibaki 98%, Raila 1%
Coast: Raila 60%, Kalonzo 36%, Musyoka 4%
Nairobi: Raila 47%, Kibaki 43%, Musyoka 10%
Rift Valley: Raila 72%, Kibaki 26%
Nyanza: Raila 86%, Kibaki
Western: Raila 74%, Kibaki 25%
North Eastern: No results – quite strange given the fact that results are being smsd from polling stations

KTN has a strange way of tallying the results (percentage of registered voters) so I’m not using them. Citizen TV is just now finally reflecting a Raila lead though very close – 91,000 vs 86,000. KBC is just strange.

No sense of voter turnout so far, it’s going to be a long night.
International media is focusing on the violence that happened today but from the ground, it’s been much lower than expected given how high tensions were.

Also Tett and Gumo arguing over vote counting in Westlands, they’ve now asked for a recount.

Finally finally! Kenya decide against tribal lines… May God help us all uproot this evil….actually its quite a shame. God help us all. Whoever wins Kenyans lets stand united.!!

  • Peter

I pray that the electoral commission declare the real winner of the election.Though I am not a Kenyan, but you will agree with me that the major problem in Africa is declaring a looser as the winner.

  • favour

    folks,
let`s pray seriously about this tribal crisis in our dear country.we are all kenyans and by deviding our nation in tribes will take us nowhere.we have been praying for a president so lets support the kenyan who wins.By standing together we will get far.

  • Omo

Chaos erupt in Kisumu, Migori and Nairobi’s Kibera and outering areas as ODM members demand to know why presidential results are not being released alongside parliamentaries. Raila Odinga to hold press conference shortly

  • when will this KENYAN tribal crisis stop? Are we voting for tribes or for fair president?dear KENYANS LETS JOIN HARD AND PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY,

  • zanzie

:mrgreen:A BBC reporter saw the bodies with gunshot wounds in a morgue in the opposition stronghold.

Witnesses say the police fired live bullets after protesters threw stones, claiming fraud in last week’s poll.

President Mwai Kibaki has been declared the winner but Raila Odinga says he was robbed of victory.

  • What was the chairman of uganda electoral commission(Eng .Badru Kigundu) doing in Nairobi? I smell a rat here.Hope he is not the architect behind Kibakis ` winning`
