First, an interesting WSJ piece on Microsoft’s effort to catch up with the likes of Google.
Second, an uber-interesting idea by Philip Greenspun - the mobile phone as a home PC . Given the ever-growing rates of mobile penetration in Africa, I wonder whether this could this be the solution to the continent’s digital divide problem. Sidenote : definitely check out Imode (created by a woman!). I’m liking this idea.

Something like I-mode was what I had in mind for Celtel (based on AT&T pocketnet)
I instantly thought about the conversation we had when I saw this…I wonder what it will take to get them to sign on.
