Forum on Vision 2030

The Institute of Economic Affairs is holding a Public
Forum on Vision 2030 on Wednesday, 27th August 2008 at 4.45 p.m. – 7.30
p.m. at The Sarova Stanley Hotel-Ball Room. The aim of the Forum is to
present the Vision 2030 and critique the Economic and Political Pillars.
Due to past work with scenarios and visions, IEA-Kenya was co-opted into
the core team that developed Vision 2030 and the first Medium Term Plan
2008-2012. We are keen to educate Kenyans on the details of Vision 2030
but also provide an honest critique of the work and the process.

 well, vision 2030 is a good thing. But we need to sensitize our brothers and sisters in the villages about it so that they embrace it as theirs rather than being imposed on them. It is quite amazing that even some of us in colleges and campuses have never even set eyes on this ‘popular’ document called vision 2030. We need to tell Kenyans to at least have a glance at the document. This will not only motivate them to commit to it but also give them a sense of purpose. so that all Kenyans work towards a common goal without sub optimization.

  • Interesting. Would you happen to know where I could get more information about Vision 2030 besides the Ministry of State for Planning (http://www.planning.go.ke/)?

    Thanks!

  • Those are some great resources! Thanks Ory!

my concern is are the policies set up by the ministry effective to common mwananchi who continue to suffer due to inadequate or unavailability of basic services for making a comfortable living?

I have been writing alot on vision 20:30, on the need for as many people to knowabout vision 20:30, the role of leadfers, its meaning in sustainable development. Maybe I will write a book before 2030,but meanwhile, can I get a forum, a magazine, an idea of where to air these ideas?

  • every good policy in our country has always been victim to our so called leaders[read politicians] who are selfish and self seeking and until we isolate politics [in the kenyan context]i.e opportunism from development we sure shall retrogress.it is there4 incumbent upon all kenyans to shun such people through the ballot if we are to move foward.

  • Hi, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam responses? If so how do you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can recommend? I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any help is very much appreciated.
