I feel the Sexual offences bill has a good cause in all its worth, the ammendments should be put in place to intergrate the african culture as well and the bill should be passed only when the institutions involved in enforcing the law such as the police department have all the resources put in place, to assist in investigations and to prove that beyond reasonable doubt, one is guilty as charged. Otherwise without proper investigation if put down as law we shall have many innocent victims violated by the law to be.

You are already in the vicinity of truth, Ory, but visibly too shy to speak out as forcefully as might be warranted. Understandable with people like Linda Ochiel in your working environment (*shudder*).

But well done; at least one intrepid woman here who furtively points out that the Emperor might not be entirely and properly clothed...

I like the legal analysis you have here. The whole process of reporting a rape is, at best, appalling.

What about directing sexual harrasment in public areas? My greatest beef with public transport in Nairobi was the sexual harrassment I encountered repeatedly. Is there any current description of what constitutes sexual harrassment in public areas, especially those prone to crowding. Moreover, educating these men from their ancient and archaic views. Some of them seem to think it's their right to harrass you because they're male and you're female.

What about the traditional societies, like the maasai. I ask because in 1998, I came close to being abducted by a bunch of morans while strolling at the foot of the Ngong hills, close to where I lived. I know they thought this to be normal to them, but I shudder to think what would have happened to me if a maasai speaking man didn't intervene. Who is taking responsibility to make sure even they know they are harrassing people when they do so? And emphasizing that being stuck in their traditions is no excuse?
